Provincial Govt seeks comfortable transportation to the residents of Peshawar through BRT Project
Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pervez Khattak performed groundbreaking of Bus Rapid Transit System at provincial capital Peshawar.
The twenty six km long Rapid Bus Transit System will begin from Chamkani and terminate at Hayatabad and the project is supposed to provide world class transport facility to 400,000 passengers daily basis.
CM KP Pervez Khattak performed the ground breaking of the project at the junction of Northern Bypass and motorway. Chief Secretary Mohammad Azam Khan, Transport Secretary Kamran Rehman Khan, Peshawar Development Authority Director General Hassan Saleem Watoo, Nazim District Peshawar Mohammad Asim Khan several MNAs and MPAs were also present on the occasion.
Chief Minister KP while speaking to the ceremony said that Asian Development Bank (ADB) provided resources for the BRT project which Rs 48 billion while 7 Billion will be paid by the KPK Government.
BRT would not only solve traffic problems in the city, but also will glorify the beauty of Peshawar. He said that the project to change the face of the city in a new era of development.
Talking about project details he said, 30 billion will be spent on the entire project while Rs4 billion would be spent on building/commercial plazas in the city and Rs1 billion to compensate citizens affected by the project.
In this project Total of 80 buses will operate under the project on the main route while the rest of the fleet of more than 300 buses will be deployed on eight feeder routes including Kohat Road, Ring Road, Charsadda Road, and Hayatabad.
CM also explained the reason of delays that first the provincial government had planned to use the Railway track for the project but federal government were not given the permission due to which project delayed.
The provincial government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is committed to be complete the project in record during of six months while having no compromise on quality of work.
