WhatsApp reaches milestone of 1.5 billion monthly users

WhatsApp now has 1.5 billion users and sees 60 billion messages sent per day

Facebook’s $19 billion acquisition of WhatsApp sounds smarter and smarter as WhatsApp has been making strides in the instant messaging space.

CEO Facebook Mark Zuckerberg claims that WhatsApp has reached a new milestone with 1.5 billion monthly users with 60 billion messages being sent daily.

These statistics of Q4 2017 by Mark Zuckerberg reveals that the messaging platform experienced an explosive growth in terms of user base and now boasts 1.5 billion monthly active users.

This is a large increase compared to the 1.3 billion monthly active users WhatsApp had in July 2017, which means that on average, each user sends around 40 messages each day.

Zuckerberg said that WhatsApp and Instagram are the most popular story sharing products in the world, each having 300 million daily users and the massive growth leaves Facebook’s decision to pay more than $ 19 billion to buy WhatsApp looking ahead

Last month, WhatsApp also launched a Business app aimed to make it easier for small and medium businesses to connect with customers.

This app is free but Facebook plans to charge business owners for additional commerce, customer service or broadcasting tools and with such a massive audience, merchants will be clamouring for them.

But ultimately, the value of Facebook’s acquisition of WhatsApp goes even beyond its massive user base. When Facebook bought the app, it also assured its absolute dominance in the messaging business.

Both Instagram Stories and WhatsApp Status features now have 300 million daily active users (DAUs) compared to 178 million Snap chat users.

On February 19, 2014, Facebook acquired WhatsApp for $19 billion and its largest acquisition to date, WhatsApp currently has over 200 million monthly active users in India.

But ultimately, the value of Facebook’s acquisition of WhatsApp goes even beyond its massive user base. When Facebook bought the app, it also assured its absolute dominance in the messaging business.
