DJ BoBo was born René Peter Baumann on January 5, 1968 in Kölliken, a rural community in the Swiss canton of Aargau. His Italian father Luigi Cipriano left his mother before BoBo was born. DJ BoBo’s childhood was marked by his abusive stepfather and the sadness of the provincial conditions. Originally he wanted to be a locomotive engineer. DJ Bobo earned his first money by collecting moss for his mother’s flower shop. DJ BoBo discovered his passion for music in the 1980s. After completing elementary school, he first began training as a baker and confectioner, which he successfully completed.
