dr Dre, real name André Romelle Young, is an American rapper and record producer. He signed the then unknown rapper Snoop Dogg and helped him to his current success.
With his first solo album, The Chronic, which he released through his own label, Dr. Dre created a classic. The extremely successful album sold around 7.5 million copies worldwide and was certified triple platinum in the USA. Rolling Stone Magazine ranks the album at number 137 on their list of the 500 Greatest Music Albums of All Time.
The success of “The Chronic” was topped with the following album. This was titled “2001” and is still his most successful work with a total of 9.3 million units sold. In its home country of the USA, the long player was even certified six times platinum for over 6 million units sold. In Germany, the release received gold status for over 150,000 units sold.
