The two sides hope for a strong partnership in the different walks of life
A delegation led by White House Senior Adviser Jared Kushner reached Abu Dhabi from Israel as the first between the two countries took place post peace deal. The delegation included US National Security Adviser Robert O’Brien and Israeli National Security Adviser Meir Ben-Shabbat. UAE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Anwar Gargash and other Emirati officials welcomed the group at the airport.
Jared Kushner, who is also the son in law of U.S. President Donald Trump, expressed hope that the deal will change the prevailing tensions in the Middle East. He also hoped that the peace process with Palestine will also improve. Kushner also felt that Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will discuss the sale of F-35s to UAE at some point in time.
“I believe that this [UAE-Israel] agreement has the ability to change the whole course of the Middle East… What happened here was three great leaders came together, and they started writing the script for a new Middle East.” Kushner said at a press conference.
O’Brien termed the UAE-Israel deal as a huge step towards peace in the Middle East. “Thanks to the courage and leadership of Crown Prince Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu and President Donald Trump, a new era has truly begun for our three nations. And these leaders will now be known throughout history as peacemakers,” said O’Brien.
Meir Ben-Shabbat also expressed hope that the two countries will cooperate in the various sectors. He also welcomed more countries to come forward and join the peace process that will benefit the people of the entire region.
“We came here to make a vision a reality,” Israel’s national security adviser Meir Ben-Shabbat said in Arabic during his opening speech. “There is no limit to the cooperation we can establish between us: In science, innovation, health, aviation, agriculture, energy and many other issues. We call on more countries to participate with us in the peace process for the peoples of the entire region. Thank you to our Emirates hosts and our American partners for their leadership.”
