Inka Bause is the third daughter of Angret and Arndt Bause. The father was one of the most successful pop and hit composers in the GDR. The family moved to East Berlin in the mid-1970s. She inherited her musical talent from her father. Inka was discovered by talent scouts as a first-grader at the music school in Friedrichshain. She played the violin at the time and became a member of the Stamitz Orchestra in 1983 after graduating from school. She took singing and piano lessons and graduated in 1989 with “very good”. Her career continued with hosting, music singles and albums, and audio books. She is best known for her show “Bauer sucht Frau”, in which she has been bringing couples together since 2005. Inka was married to Hendrik Bruch from 1996 to 2005 and has a daughter with the composer and singer. Since then she has lived with her daughter in Berlin. Her ex-husband took his own life in September 2016, before which he had already attempted two suicides. To date, Inka has not found a new life partner, but she is all the more committed to her professional life.
In 1984, Inka appeared in front of a television audience for the first time in a New Year’s Eve show with “Spoilsport”. In 1985 and in the two years that followed, she won the young talent prize of the GDR youth magazine “Neues Leben”. She conquered the front ranks and was the only artist to receive the highest prize in the television hit parade “Bong” five times in a row, the “Silver Bong”. Inka’s first album bearing her name was released in 1987. A year later, alongside singing, she began building a second mainstay. As a moderator, she appeared with Hendrik Bruch, her later husband, on the children’s show “Talentbude”. She has also toured the country with music shows and has made numerous television and radio appearances.
After the Talentebude, Inka moderated “our new home” from 2006 to 2009, and in 2008 she was a moderator on the “100,000 Euro Show” and “the singing company”. Inka presented “Die Farm” in 2010, “Jugendliebe” from 2011 to 2012, “Three Wishes for” and “The Golden Hen” in 2012, as well as “Christmas in the Country”. Her show “Inkal” followed in 2013, since 2005 she has been known as the presenter of “Bauer sucht Frau” and since 2016 she has appeared in the “Family Duel”. Between 1984 and 2018 she released 8 music albums and 23 singles. Furthermore, she produced some audio books, compilations and was also seen as an actress in some roles.
In 1998, Inka achieved fifth place at the Schlager Festival 1998 with her title “I only want you”. In the same year she played the leading role in “Panik in der Blumenstadt”, an MDR production. In 2000 she received the Hessischer Rundfunk program “Starclub” and a recording contract with Jack White. She made a comeback as a singer in 2001 with her single “Florian”. She appeared in 20 television programs and the song was chosen as the hit of the summer of 2001 by Radio Sachsen MDR. In June 2003 she won the MDR hit summer night with “My heart stays with you”. In 2008, Inka Bause won the “Goldene Henne” award as best presenter, and in 2009 she received the Bauer Media Group’s “Star of the Year” award, also in the best presenter category.
Inka hardly ever quotes, she is discreet about her private life. She only spoke about it in an interview two years after her ex-husband committed suicide. Hendrik Bruch suffered from a mental illness, although Inka, according to his own statement, would have liked to grow old with him. It’s amazing how she handles strokes of fate in her private life and shows her radiant smile with every appearance.
Incas social commitment
Bause has been an ambassador for the “Children’s Hospice Central Germany” since the end of 2005. In September 2006 she donated a fee of 25,000 euros to the institution, which she had recorded with Jörg Pilawa’s Starquiz. Inka also supports a project at the Montessori school in Düsseldorf as a godmother. “SchokoFair” is committed to combating child exploitation in chocolate production. She is also patron of an association that is committed to strengthening young people in matters of mental health and is patron of the palliative care center in Datteln.
