He also met the Joint Chief of Staff Committee in Rawalpindi as well
Commander Iraqi Air Force Major General Shihab Jahid Ali Shakarchi is on an official visit to Pakistan along with other officials. On Tuesday, he met the Air Chief Marshal Mujahid Anwar Khan at the PAF headquarters in Islamabad.
Shakarchi commended the professionalism of Pakistan Air Force and discussed the mutual cooperation between the two brotherly countries according to a statement from PAF.
“Both Commanders discussed various matters pertaining to security and mutual cooperation,” the statement read. “Commander Iraqi Air Force lauded the professionalism of PAF personnel and the exceptional progress made by PAF over the years, through indigenization.”
“The Air Chief highlighted the brotherly relations and collaboration between the two sides. Both the dignitaries agreed to further augment the already existing cordial relations between the two air forces.”
The Iraqi Air Commander also met General Nadeem Raza, chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff committee of the Pakistani army in Rawalpindi the same day.
“Matters of bilateral professional interest and further strengthening of security and defense cooperation between the two countries were discussed during the meeting,” the statement concluded.
The two Muslim countries have generally experienced friendly relations over the years. There has been considerable mutual trade between Iraq and Pakistan as well. Pakistan has recently also offered to train Ira’s armed forces in a meeting between Pakistani Defense Minister Pervez Khattak and Iraqi Envoy Hamid Abbas Lafta.
