Pierre Baigorry, better known in Germany as Peter Fox, is a successful hip hop/reggae artist. Peter Fox lives in Berlin and became known in Germany both with the band Seeed and with his solo career as Peter Fox. After a solo album, however, he ended his solo effort, much to the regret of countless fans, and has since appeared again as one of two front men in his band Seeed.
Peter Fox was born in West Berlin. He has international roots. His father is of Polish descent and his mother is a French Basque who herself grew up in Spain. He spent his childhood in Schönow. He learned to play the piano as a child and attended the French high school in Berlin. He founded several school bands while he was still at school.
Because of his red hair he got the nickname Foxi, from which he later derived his stage name Peter Fox. He graduated from the Berlin-Steglitz Gymnasium. He then began training as a piano builder. However, he did not finish this.
After school he worked in various music and record shops. Meanwhile he always played in different bands and worked on his musicianship. Peter Fox even began to study music. At the end of the 1990s, he switched to studying special education and English because he wanted to help people with disabilities as a special education teacher.
But things turned out differently and Pierre Baigorry became Peter Fox. He traded the auditorium for the stage when he became one of the lead singers of Seeed in 1998.
His musical career really took off when the band Seeed became known. With singles like Dickes B, Aufstehn!, Ding or Augenbling, the band also made a name for itself outside of the capital. The first album New Dubby Conquerors, from 2001, reached gold status and sold over 150,000 copies. It was followed by the albums Music Monks, in 2003 and Next! In 2005. All records went gold except for the album Musik Monks, which went platinum.
The reggae/dancehall combo is one of the few bands that was also successful in the Caribbean and in non-German-speaking countries.
But Peter Fox wanted to see how a solo career would pan out. In 2007 he started his solo project and set out as Peter Fox with the album Stadtaffe to conquer Germany. After the release of the single Fieber in November 2007, the singles Alles Neu in 2008 and Haus am See followed. The singles stormed the charts and reached platinum and gold status.
With the anthem Schwarz zu Blau in 2009, which is still popular, Fox landed another hit. Stadtaffe was able to sell more than 1.3 million copies and reached gold in all German-speaking countries and even platinum in Austria. The live album “Live aus Berlin”, released a year later, was also a full chart success and confirmed the success of his solo record.
After a successful festival summer touring solo, he announced the end of his solo experiment at the zenith of his success. Many fans were shocked. However, Fox announced that the hype around his person had become too big for him and that it had also been planned from the start to only produce a single solo album.
In 2012 the music continued with the band Seeed, which released the album of the same name Seeed in the same year and continued with Bam Bam in 2019.
The Berlin fox does not remain idle in the meantime either. He has guest-starred on various other records and has worked with artists such as, Sido, Miss Platinum and Materia, among others.
But the music alone is not enough for him. Meanwhile, Fox has become increasingly politically involved and is even currently recording a political podcast, Politricks.
Peter Fox has already had great success with the band Seeed. As a solo artist, however, he exceeded every expectation. As a solo artist, he received the 1Live Krone for best album for his album Stadtaffe in 2008. In 2009, Echos won the Hip-Hop/Urban category, Critics’ Award and Producer of the Year. In addition, he was able to win the Comet for the best video (for Everything New) and the Comet Star of the Stars. With the single Schwarz zu Blau he also won the Bundesvision Song Contest in the same year.

“I’ve got the day on my side, I’ve got a tailwind.”
“Everything wins when playing with marked cards
Lose it all, God has a hard left hook”
“I’m completely renovated, brides have something to stare at
Extremely healthy, well trained, world champion in chess and boxing
Just talk concretely, give me a yes or no
Enough with Larifari, I’ll drop all the old nonsense”
Pierre Baigorry rarely reveals details about his personal life. He is married for the second time and has a son and a daughter.
Since 2002 he has had a slight facial paralysis, which came about as a result of a viral disease that was recognized too late. He is also politically involved, including on the platform geht-auch-anders.de and in the iChance campaign, which promotes literacy and basic education.
Peter Fox has made a granny flat in his house available to a Syrian refugee family.
