Robert Geiss was born on January 29, 1964 in Cologne. He also grew up in the cathedral city. His parents’ names are Reinhold and Margret Geiss. Robert has a brother named Michael who is two years his junior. His father was a fairground outfitter. Robert Geiss, who developed a penchant for making money early on, ended his school career with a secondary school diploma. Immediately after leaving school he went into the family business.
Together with his brother Michael, Robert founded the Uncle Sam brand in 1986. “Uncle Sam” is a sportswear company, the name of which is intended to associate the American lifestyle. In 1994 Robert Geiss married his girlfriend Carmen Schulz, who worked as a fitness trainer. After great success with “Uncle Sam”, Robert and Michael sold their company in 1995. In 2004, the company was bought back by Michael Geiss, who became managing director again. In 2011, the shooting of the TV show “The Geissens – A Terribly Glamorous Family” began. The program, which is broadcast by the RTL 2 television channel, suggests documenting the extravagant life and travels of Robert, Carmen and their two daughters Davina Shakira and Shania Tyra. Robert is now also the producer of the television show. The company Geiss TV was founded in 2015 for this purpose. In early 2013, Robert made a return to fashion by creating the Roberto Geissini brand. With the purchase, repair and resale of high-quality real estate and with a hotel near Saint Tropez that has existed since 2015, further sources of income have opened up for Robert Geiss. In addition, he and his wife acted as advertisers and made profits through the sale of an autobiography, which was published in 2013 with the support of ghostwriter Andreas Hock.
Robert Geiss has achieved great economic success both with his clothing companies and with his other projects such as real estate trading and his hotel complex. But he is best known for his television series. Viewer attendance is still unbroken. The ratings for people between 14 and 49 is over eight percent. This means that more than 1.2 million television viewers (of which more than 700,000 are from the advertising-relevant target group) watch the show regularly. Robert Geiss receives 2.5 million euros from RTL 2 for the broadcast per season.
“I was already done with training and earning money when others had finished their studies. At the age of 29 I closed the bag, went to Monaco and bought a hammock.” “Learning by do it, that’s actually how I’ve done it my whole life. I wasn’t a designer either, and I still can’t actually sew to this day. At most a button and if I sew it on, it comes off again after two hours at the latest. That’s why I’m married now.” “Shopping is not a disease, but a genetic defect that every woman has.” “If you don’t do your homework, you don’t drive a jet ski.” “My wife does the housework. Otherwise I wouldn’t have had to marry her.”
tips for success
Robert Geiss is known to be very hardworking. He started working very early and was never idle. He’s not a person who thinks for long. Instead, he acts intuitively and acquires knowledge and skills through his actions. For Robert, striving for material things is anything but reprehensible. Nonetheless, family is the most important thing to him. Part of his success as a television producer and performer is due to his keen sense of what resonates with a particular segment of the television audience. He also knows how to skilfully mark the limits of good taste through his statements.
