A bright smile, a funny saying: that’s how most people know Sylvie Meis. She was able to make a name for herself as a moderator and juror on shows like “Let’s Dance” or “Das Supertalent”. In fact, Sylvie Meis has much more to offer than just a friendly smile – and has even faced death.
Sylvie Francoise Meis was born on April 13, 1978 in the Dutch city of Breda. Her mother is Belgian and her father is of Indonesian descent. Sylvie Meis has a brother. She trained as a human resources manager, but this job quickly became boring. Sylvie Meis knew that the world had more in store for her and became a model.
Due to her height of only 1.58 meters, she was unfortunately denied a career as a catwalk model. No problem for Sylvie Meis, who started a career in the television world instead: by moderating the television show “Fox Kids” from 2003, her level of awareness increased sharply, especially in the Netherlands.
In 2003, Sylvie Meis also met footballer Rafael van der Vaart. She was married to him for eight years and they had a son. In 2009, Sylvie Meis was diagnosed with breast cancer. This was successfully treated with surgery and chemotherapy.
Sylvie Mei’s success increased steadily from this point. She has hosted the TMF Awards several times and launched her own jewelry collection “Pure by Sylvie” in 2006. In 2007 she was the cover girl on the Otto catalogue, and she also worked as an advertising medium for BMW, L’Oréal and Gillette.
From 2008 to 2011 Sylvie Meis was an integral part of the jury for “Das Supertalent”, in 2018 she returned for a season. After taking second place on “Let’s Dance” in 2010, she was allowed to host the show from 2011 to 2017 alongside Daniel Hartwich. She was awarded a prize for this.
Sylvie Meis has been working as a model for Hunkemöller since 2012. She even worked on some of the designs herself under the name “The Sylvie Collection”. In 2015, she hosted the dance show Stepping Out with Hartwich. In the 2015/2016 season she appeared as a guest star on the show Holiday on Ice. In 2017, Sylvie Meis launched an underwear and swimwear line, followed in 2018 by the moderation of the short-lived casting show “Sylvies Lingerie Models”.
Sylvie Meis first gained notoriety by moderating the children’s show “Fox Kids” from 2003. She soon became a star in the Netherlands. In Germany, she is best known for her casting shows: from 2008 to 2011, Sylvie Meisin sat on the jury for “Das Supertalent”, from 2011 to 2017 she continued her career as a presenter of “Let’s Dance”.
Sylvie Meis received modeling jobs at Hunkemöller, among others, where she has been designing models herself since 2012. She launched a jewelry line and a lingerie collection, and in 2003 she won the Sexiest Woman in the Netherlands.
