Til Schweiger is passionate about being in front of and behind the camera. As a filmmaker and movie star, as a screenwriter and director – Til Schweiger’s professional world successfully revolves around the big national and international screens. With his charismatic looks and his ability to both amuse and deeply touch viewers, he draws crowds of enthralled viewers to the cinema terraces. But he also became active behind the camera and became a sought-after producer in Germany and Hollywood. Constantly expanding his knowledge and never-ending striving for success led Til Schweiger to found his own production company. Everything he touches works, so it’s not surprising that he manages to forget about family and work and that his Net Worth is constantly growing.
Born in Freiburg, Til Schweiger discovered his passion for cinema films at a young age. As the son of two teachers, however, he first embarked on a teaching career and studied German to become a teacher. Before graduating, he changed majors and began studying medicine. At the end of the 80s, Til Schweiger decided to follow his dream and switched to drama school in Cologne.
After successfully completing his training as an actor, he received his first television role in the famous “Lindenstraße”. Shortly thereafter followed his debut in the cinema: In “Manta, Manta” Til Schweiger was able to prove his skills. And he did. This was followed by the films “The Moved Man” and “Men’s Pension”, which attracted crowds of viewers to the cinemas.
Til Schweiger made it and quickly reached the top of the German cinema market. He establishes himself as an actor and looks for new challenges. He helped develop his first screenplay, took care of the financing of his film project and created another cinema success. “Knocking On Heaven’s Door” is seen by almost four million enthusiastic viewers.
He works with various production companies and gets to know and love the working methods in Hollywood. So Til Schweiger prefers to think big rather than small and founds his production company “Barefoot Films” together with Tom Zickler.
With the films “Keinohrhase” and “Kokowääh” Til Schweiger skillfully established himself as a director and producer. The films he produces, in which he takes on small and large roles himself, break visitor records.
The actor and producer can now boast a repertoire of around fifty cinema and television films. He skilfully reconciles family and career and brings his two children to the big screens.
As a producer, he increasingly focuses on technology, film music and set design and creates a “barefoot design” together with his brother. The company relies on extraordinary design in interior architecture. This is followed by the online shop “Barefoot Living”, where customers can find exquisite, handcrafted household products.
Til Schweiger’s career got off to a flying start – the first movie in which he starred was a box-office magnet in 1991. Two more major roles as an actor followed in the five years that made Til Schweiger famous nationally and internationally.
In 1998 came the great success in Hollywood with the crime thriller “Judas Kiss”, which was followed promptly by other roles alongside cinema greats such as Silvester Stallone and Angelina Jolie.
In 2005 came the breakthrough as a successful producer with his self-made film “Barfuss”. But that is by no means the end of the professional highlights in Til Schweiger’s life. In 2009 he was hired as an actor by Quentin Tarantino for the cult film “Inglourious Bastards”.
With just over 12 million television viewers, as crime scene commissioner Nick Tschiller in 2013, he attracted more people to the television sets than ever before at a crime scene.
Just one year later, “Honig im Kopf” became the most successful feature film of the year. Til Schweiger wrote the screenplay, directed, manages the production and is a skillful actor.
- “I still feel like a boy. I believe in the theory that everyone is born at a certain age and stays that age. I feel like I’m in my late twenties.”
- “Believe in what you believe in. The best thing you can do in life is to believe in what you want.”
- “I believe that I owe my success to three things: luck, talent and ease.”
tips for success
Til Schweiger has managed to achieve professional success through tireless learning and constant striving for perfection, which has allowed his assets to grow steadily. The charismatic actor invested his pocket money in movies in his youth and was always disappointed when the film was badly made. He has never forgotten this disappointment and says of his films that only the best quality comes into question for him, and that in every area. From the camera to the equipment to the actors, he leaves nothing to chance. As an ambitious and tireless person, he even works on editing during breaks in shooting. A concept that pays off.
