early life
Timo Glock was born on March 18, 1982 in Lindenfels in the Odenwald, but he grew up in Wersau near Darmstadt. He is a trained scaffolder. His father is a scaffolding contractor. In 1997 Timo Glock bought his first kart. At the German Junior Kart Cup, he noticed that he had the talent for it and worked intensively on this hobby.
From 1998 to 2000 he made his first racing experiences at DMV state and federal championships and developed ambition for more.
Career
Timo Glock started his career in motocross in 1996 at the age of 14. The following year he switched to karting. He won his first championship title in 2000 in the Formula BMW ADAC Junior Cup.
In 2001 he was Rookie of the Year at Deutsche Formula BMW. The following year he switched to the Formula 3 Euro Series.
In 2004 he drove in Formula 1 for the first time. There he drove four races for Jordan. Since there was no regular cockpit in Formula 1, he switched to the Champ Car World Series in North America. There he became the best newcomer. In 2006 he returned to Europe and raced in the GP2 series. In 2007 he became champion in the GP2 series and at the same time test driver in Formula 1 for the BMW Sauber team. A year later he became a regular driver in Formula 1 for the Panasonic Toyota Racing Team. At the end of the season he finished tenth in the drivers’ standings. In 2009 he also drove for the Panasonic Toyota Racing Team, where he took two podiums and had to end the season prematurely due to an injury. From 2010 to 2012 he was a regular driver for Marussia-Virgin. In 2010 he finished 23rd overall after some technical difficulties. In 2011 ranked 25th and in 2012 ranked 20th. Due to economic circumstances, the contract was terminated prematurely and by mutual agreement at the beginning of 2013.
Timo Glock has been driving in the DTM since 2013, where he signed a contract with BMW. He rode for Team MTEK for three years. At the last race of the season he got his first win. He finished the season in ninth place. He finished the next season in 16th place. He finished his last season at MTEK in 15th place.
Since the 2016 season he has been part of the BMW squad for Team Reinhold Motorsport, where he finished 10th, 7th, 5th and 12th.
