Short introduction
Travis Scott was born Jacques Berman Webster II in Houston, Texas. He is now considered one of the highest paid and most popular rappers in the world. His relationship with Kylie Jenner also contributed to his high profile. Kylie Jenner gave birth to daughter Stormi Webster in February 2018. In September 2019, the famous celebrity couple separated.
early life
Young Jacques Berman Webster II lived with his grandmother in South Park, Houston, until he was six years old. This area was characterized by high crime rates, so he then moved to his parents in Missouri City. This middle-class suburb is located in southwest Houston. Today’s rapper is a graduate of Elkins High School. He then began his studies at the University of Texas San Antonio, which he dropped out of in the second year of study to focus on his music career.
At the age of 16 he founded the music duo “The Graduates” with his childhood friend Christ Holloway. The two friends released their first untitled EP on Myspace in 2008. A year later he founded “The Classmates” with his school friend OG Chess. This resulted in the release of two projects. After dropping out of college, Travis Scott moved to New York City. Due to the lack of success, he moved on to Los Angeles after only four months in order to achieve more success with his music career.
Career
At first, the time in Los Angeles was not crowned with great success and Scott slept on a friend’s couch. The young musician started his solo career with a mixtape called “Owl Pharaoh”. Due to problems with the release, the publication was postponed from 2012 to May 2013. The project, planned as a free download, was finally published exclusively on iTunes. As a result, Scott Travis performed at the South by Southwest music festival in 2014 and released his second mixtape, Days Before Rodeo, that same year.
The steady development of his success was shown with the first studio album “Rodeo” September 2015. The album, which was listed at number three in the US charts, was very successful and had guest appearances by artists such as Kanye West, The Weeknd, Swae Lee and Justin Bieber.
With the second studio album “Birds in the Trap Sing McKnight” from 2016, Scott Travis reached number one status in the US charts for the first time. In addition to the release of his third solo album “Astroworld” in August 2018, the successful rapper also worked on other collaborative albums, e.g. with Quavo from the rap group Migos entitled “Huncho Jack, Jack Huncho”.
From September 2017 to September 2018, Scott Travis earned $20 million, ranking him among the top 15 highest paid rappers in the world. In subsequent years, Travis grew his earnings to $60 million (June 2018 – June 2019) and $40 million (June 2019 – June 2020), respectively.
With “Sicko Mode”, the musician also reached number one in the American singles charts.
