Anton Igorevich Zaslavsky (born September 2, 1989 in Saratov) is a German DJ and music producer of Russian origin, known by the stage name Zedd. Zedd is a 2014 Grammy Music Award winner in the Best Dance Record nomination for the song “Clarity” which was co-performed with British singer Foxes. In 2014, he ranked eighth in the top 10 highest paid DJs in the world according to Forbes with an income of $21 million.
He writes music, primarily in the electro-house genre, but is not limited to its scope. Among his compositions there are also pieces in the genres of progressive house, complextro and brostep. In 2016, the DJ took 35th place in the rating of a British magazine, and in 2017 – 29th place in the list of “Top 100” best DJs.
early life
Born in Saratov into a family of musicians, Anton Zaslavsky received a classical musical education, beginning with music studies in the piano class at the age of four. At the age of three, Anton and his family moved to the German city of Kaiserslautern as refugees of Jewish nationality, where he spent his childhood and youth.
He started playing drums at the age of twelve. Together with his brother Arkady, he became a member of the rock band Dioramic, which was founded in Kaiserslautern in 2002. Seven years later, he developed an interest in electronic music after hearing the album by French electropunk duo Justice. In 2009 Anton Zaslavsky started writing electronic music himself.
Career
In 2011 Anton Zaslavsky released the single “Dovregubben” which he wrote in the style of the electro house. This composition immediately rose to the top of the music charts. Anton Zaslavsky currently resides in Los Angeles. He has already managed to work with stars like Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, Skrilex, Haley Williams, Selena Gomez, Kescha, Ariana Grande, Sean Mendes, Troy Sivan, Liam Payne and others.
In 2013, Zedd produced three songs from Lady Gaga’s new artpop album: “Aura”, “GUY” and “Donatella”. In January 2018 he recorded the track “The Middle” (involving Maren Morris and Gray) which he performed at the Grammy Ceremony (2018).
On February 23, 2015, Zedd released his collaboration with Selena Gomez, “I Want You to Know.” The song was co-written by Zedd, OneRepublic’s Ryan Tedder and Kevin Drew. The song became the “choice party song” at the Teen Choice Awards and made it to #1 on Billboard Dance/Electronic Songs and peaked at #17 on the Billboard Hot 100. The song was charted in the US for selling over one Million copies certified platinum.
Zedd released his second single “Beautiful Now” featuring Jon Bellion on May 13, 2015. The album “True Colors” was released two days later. The album reached #1 on the Billboard Dance/Electronic Albums chart and charted on various other international charts. The third single from the album “Papercut” with Troye Sivan was released on July 17, 2015.
On May 22nd and 23rd he headlined the Counter Point Music and Arts Festival along with The Roots and Widespread Panic. Zedd performed at the 2015 CMT Music Awards with Lady Antebellum. Together they performed a mashup of their songs “Long Stretch of Love” and “Beautiful Now.”
His second world tour, the True Colors Tour, lasted from August to November 2015, touring Asia, North America and Europe. Zedd was included in the 2016 Coachella lineup. In 2017 he organized a benefit concert for the American Civil Liberties Union. On July 15, 2016, singer Hailee Steinfeld and producing duo Gray released a song titled “Starving” by Zedd, which peaked at #5 on the Billboard Mainstream Top 40 and #5 on the UK Singles Chart.
On February 23, 2017, Zedd released his collaboration with Alessia Cara, “Stay”, which debuted at number 28 on the Billboard Hot 100 and 33 on the UK Singles Chart. On July 6, 2017, Zedd released his single with Liam Payne, “Get Low.” On January 23, 2018, Zedd released his single featuring Maren Morris and Gray, “The Middle,” which rose to #1 on the Billboard Pop Songs radio chart and peaked at #5 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Zedd was tapped by National Geographic to produce a song inspired by the documentary series One Strange Rock and released a video titled “One Strange Rock” on April 9, 2018 on his YouTube channel. On July 17, 2018, Zedd released his single with Elley Duhé, “Happy Now.” The accompanying music video was later released on August 23, 2018.
On September 27, 2018, Zedd released his remix of the Shawn Mendes single “Lost in Japan”. This single quickly climbed the top 40 charts and marked the first collaboration between the two artists. They performed the song at the 2018 American Music Awards on October 10, 2018 and then performed it again at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show on November 8, 2018. The accompanying music video was released on November 9, 2018 after the two performances.
