early life

Born in Malmö in the Rusengård region in the family of Yugoslav emigrants. His father Shefik Ibrahimovic is a Bosnian Muslim Slav from Tuzla and his mother Yurka Gravich is a Croatian from Zadar. They met and married in Sweden. At the age of eight, Zlatan began to play for the children’s team of the Balkan Club, in which only immigrants from the Balkan countries played. He was immediately accepted into an older age group.

Career

He played for Malmö youth teams from the age of 12 and made his first-team debut in 1999. After spending two years at the club, he joined Dutch Ajax in the summer of 2001 for €7.8million.
